Terms of use
Last updated 21 October 2026
These terms apply when you use the myDesk site, desk and client portal. By creating a desk or using the service you agree to them. If you use myDesk for a firm, you confirm you may accept these terms for that firm.
What myDesk is
myDesk is software for keeping client records, deadlines, documents and client money in order. It suggests names, checks dates and compares balances, but every suggestion is for you to review. It does not give legal, accounting or tax advice, and it does not replace your own judgment or a qualified professional.
Your responsibilities
- Keep your sign-in email secure and tell us promptly if you think someone else has used it.
- Make sure what you enter is accurate, and review deadlines, reconciliations and reports before relying on them.
- Have the right to upload what you upload, including information about your clients.
- Decide who on your team gets which role, and what you share with each client.
- Comply with the rules that apply to you, including your bar, licensing, trust accounting, confidentiality and record-keeping rules. Keep your own copies of records you must retain.
Acceptable use
Please do not:
- use myDesk for anything unlawful, fraudulent or to handle money you are not entitled to handle;
- try to reach another firm's or client's data, or get around sign-in or role limits;
- upload malware, or interfere with or overload the service;
- scrape, resell or copy the service, or use it to build a competing product;
- send spam or unlawful messages through invitations or the client portal.
We may suspend access that puts the service, other users or their clients at risk.
Your data
Your firm's records remain your firm's. You give us permission to store and process them only to run, secure and improve the service for you. How we handle personal information is described in our privacy notice.
Plans and billing
The plans currently listed are:
- Free: 2 active matters with a limited number of documents.
- Solo: $49/month, one professional and unlimited matters.
- Firm: $79/month, up to 5 users at one flat price.
A paid plan may not be available to buy yet. When it is, it is billed monthly in advance through a hosted checkout, and the price shown at checkout is the price you pay. Taxes may be added where required. We may change plans or prices for future billing periods; we will tell you before a price change applies to you.
You can cancel a paid plan at any time. It stays active until the end of the period you have paid for, then your desk returns to Free. Payments already made are not refunded unless the law requires it. Cancelling does not delete your data; to ask for deletion, see the privacy notice.
Availability and changes
We work to keep myDesk available and accurate, but it may sometimes be unavailable, for example during maintenance or an outage at a provider. We may add, change or remove features. If a change materially reduces what a paid plan includes, we will tell you in advance.
No warranty
myDesk is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise that the service will be error-free, that every issue will be flagged, or that using it will make you compliant with any rule.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim about the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the claim, or $100.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for fraud, gross negligence or wilful misconduct where the law does not allow it to be excluded, or any rights you have that cannot be waived.
Ending your use
You can stop using myDesk at any time. We may suspend or end access if these terms are seriously or repeatedly broken, if the law requires it, or if we stop offering the service; where reasonable, we will give notice and a chance to export your records first.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will post the new version here and change the date at the top; for material changes we will also tell signed-in users. Using myDesk after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, except where the law of your place of residence must apply.
